About

Hi,

I'm Cindy. I've been married since 1981. We have 3 incredible boys. Our oldest, Jason, is married and lives in California. Hikari David spent 2011 in Jerusalem at a Christian Film School; this year is in Kenya creating a film, The Distant Boat. And then there is Nathan whose dream is to be a farmer.

Here's a picture of Nathan with one of the neighbor's horses. He is learning how to clean stalls, feed, and even ride horses. This year he intends to raise sheep on our field.

This is our backyard. I love to look out my window for inspiration. The landscape is always changing as the sky casts various degrees of light on the entire scene, not to mention the seasons and the variety of animals and plants as they come and go.

Most of all I like to make things for our home. Always have. Even as a child, I loved to make things--like these tissue paper flowers. With 3 boys, however, I was unable to convince them to share this joy. So, the desire to create had to lie dormant while raising them. Now that I have a craft room and time to create, I'm discovering, to my delight, that the passion to create is still there--stronger than ever. It seems as though there is so much to catch up on. Someone once told me to surround myself with the people--and things--I love. Much of my life has been devoted to this. When hubby, Tomo, and the boys were not lovely, it was my job to help them become lovable. It worked.

Seven years ago I found myself seeking wealth through investing in real estate. Like many others, I got us entangled in a real estate scam and could have lost everything we have worked so hard to achieve. It is only because of God's mercy that we were able to get out of the mess I got us into. Once it was clear that we were in trouble, we sold our home and embarked on 4 years of renting, starting with a 325 sq. ft. cottage on a farm (pictured above). That is where God began His good work in us, transforming us from city to country people. In August of 2012 we purchased our own 5.5 acre farm where we run an outdoors business for SOTO and I spend time almost every day transforming this house into our home--one project at a time. This site is dedicated to giving glory to God for His incredible leading in our life on my journey with Shalom Acres.

One of my favorite pastimes is to find ways to save money and make home life more pleasant at the same time.  Here is my craft room where many of these dreams become a reality. I look forward to sharing inspiration and crafts with you. I sincerely hope that you will be able to glean something useful for your family. But, most of all, my desire is for you to discover peace in your home as you take some of the ideas presented here and tweak them to fit into your own family's life, resulting in the unique, beautiful design that God has for you and your family. I hope that you will visit often, as I have lots of ideas and projects to share with you.
